Advanced Graphic Design students just finished creating a box product design and Logo to go with their product. Thomas did a great job creating a Logo for his "City Wok" frozen foods. Students created a print ad to go with the completion of this project. Other products created by students included Candies, Pencil Sharpeners, and Toys. Check out their all art work on the Graphic Design page. Or go directly to the Logo/Ad page.

Students were introduced to Pixton comics which is a new interactive technology that has ability to create comics on the web. It allows characters to be posed by the smallest element to dynamic panels, props, speech bubbles. It allows the teacher to set up a virtual classroom with the ability to create assignments through safe and secure accounts. Assignments can be set up with assessment tools as well as personal comments.
It allows communication between the student and teacher for editing, classroom collaboration, and each comic can be shared in the student gallery. Pixton also gives the option to embed the comics in their website, blog, or social networking website. To check out the full comic click on the picture above. Students are now working on comic strips about Digital Citizenship. Students started our spring project of "Fancy Mirrors" by learning to draw self-portraits using their iPads. They took a camera shot of their faces, saved in their library and opened to start their facial features. A prior lesson of facial proportions helped the students understand the proper relation between facial elements. Keep checking back for the final project of "Fancy Mirrors"! Beginning Graphic Design students digitally created an image using words in the positive space with the silhouette left for the negative space. They used the online interactive site Tagxedo and then took the image into Photoshop and manipulated the design, colors, and edges. You can check out other student images they created in class . 7th Graders finished their Egyptian inspired vases using cardboard tape ends, balloons, papier-mâché glue, strips of paper, tempera paint, and gems. Check out the 7th Grade Egyptian webpage for more art work. History: In ancient Egypt coffins and death masks were often made from cartonnage--layers of papyrus or linen covered with plaster. |
