Final projects of self portraits using our iPads turned out so neat! We used several apps including Sketchbook Express, Art Set, Sketches, and Art n Trace.    Students were asked to create a character from three columns of four types of environments, characteristics, and physical additions. Choosing one from each column. They could combine using their iPad Pro and Pro-Create app or the computer Wacom Pen Tablet and Photoshop.     Students used the iPad app My Flake to draw their preliminary snowflakes before folding and cutting their paper. It allows the students to see the cuts and full preview of the snowflake before drawing on their paper folds to cut out. They can see the changes that need to be made and think about images in it's full symmetry. Bonus: It saves a lot of paper cut mistakes!
              Ornament Drawings using the Drawing Desk iPad app. Middle School students used their iPads and the app Sketches to create their Nebraska bird drawings. It has a good video on how to use the app. A great site we use that is very informative is What Bird. It allows the students to research about their particular bird with visuals, and audio. They can actually listen to the sound of their bird they chose.Procreate is a quick and precise drawing and painting app that helps students see the potential of digital art using a mobile device. Procreate is available for $5.99. Students were encouraged to make their subjects personal with their pets, friends. Realistic or Surreal.  While looking for iPad apps that could help students create different effects with their own images I ran across one called Percolator. It was brilliant! It was simple, yet allowed for a variety of input to create a desirable mosaic image. Many colors, designs filters and color combinations. 
Nebraska Youth Art MonthYouth Art Month is a national celebration to celebrate visual arts for grades K – 12. The Youth Art Month Program emphasizes the value of art education for all children, encourages support for quality school art programs. Started in 1961 through the Art & Creative Materials Institute, Inc. (ACMI) and in cooperation with the National Art Education Association, it has emphasized the importance of art in public schools. The State Capitol Youth Art Month Celebration will feature a K-12 art exhibition March 7th through March 21 in the Capital Rotunda.  Students featured from our school is 11th grader Evan Spencer and 8th grader Isaac Sine. Both pieces will be on display with a ceremony celebration on March 21st at the State Capital. |
