Students in 8th grade created some great weavings! People learned to weave thousands of years ago using natural grasses, leafstalks, palm leaves, and thin strips of wood. Students could choose a traditional weaving design or a modern design of their choice. America, UK, and Mickie....all friends!
Students learned about Navajo rugs; from the shearing of sheep for wool, to weaving on cardboard looms. Today weaving ranks as a major industry in many countries. Checkout my Thinglink on Weaving.

These are wonderful weavings! Did your students use cardboard looms? If so, how many notches were there and what kind of fiber did they use? Also, did you have a resource for how to create patterns?

Thank you Holly. We used cardboard chipboards with the slits already cut from Nasco. The patterns were made by each student using graph paper which was then taped to the board before the warp thread was strung.
